What exactly is a Quinceanera?
All i know that Hispanics celbrate it and that girls wear dresses which look like wedding gowns?!
But what exactly do they celebrate and why?
Actually it is a celebration very similar to a Debutante Ball. It is considered a traditional rite of passage in which a young lady is formally presented to society. This is the reason for the fancy dresses, formal entrance with ladies in waiting along with escorts or ushers, the 1st waltz, etc… It is a very expensive event and families often go into debt in order to give their daughter a “Quinceanera”. Most young girls of hispanic heritage look forward to this special party and spend years planning it.
