The emotionless brothers
As it happened to be Mr. And Mrs. Jones’ wedding anniversary, the couple invited me over dinner to make merry. I am somehow unable to pinpoint why but this supper would be a memorable one to me. It was an indifferent dinner anyone can have with his neighbor. Home made food, spic and span house and a cheerful family, a family comprising of three sons. Yes, three sons whose versatile professions made me ponder over a host of things about them. The very moment I seated myself at the dining table, I looked at them and gave them a smile, but to my astonishment, none of them reacted. This strangely made me feel as if I am sitting in front of three of the world’s most boring people. Just after that, Mr. Jones introduced me to his three sons, I was further puzzled. Now the thing that I am still unable to decipher is that, the very second he told me about their careers, my mind clogged up with a thought, totally motivated by those emotionless gestures of three, that was completely bizarre. His first son, was one of the Oakland Plumbers ! To me it appeared as if his work was not to repair leaking taps but to collate and set the streams of dumb thoughts jutting out of the head, as if the molecules of H2O, I mean the molecules of water and put them back into the head so that they don’t flow like liquid. The other son, who was an Oakland Electricians seemed so still and expressionless made me feel that he is the criminal who has damaged the wiring of minds of his two brothers with his many tools such as conduit benders, pliers, wire strippers, drills, ohmmeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes. An illustration formed in my mind the way he must have opened brain, wired it and then plugged it again. Whoa! Then comes the last but not least, his youngest son, one of those famous Oakland Roofers who show miracles through their work. But I pondered how could this expressionless robot make those eye catchy art works on top of the roof. To me it seemed as if he could only set the roof of brains and make them silent to the emotions and all, like his. Possibly, it’s the sentiment that makes the machine being titled as HUMANS….
